Airport Authority of India will upgrade Goa's Civil airports

The Dabolim International Airport at Goa is to receive a major expansion and face lift with two world-class airports coming up to cater to growing air traffic.  Goa is gearing up to receive a major expansion and face lift with two world class airports, one at Dabolim and the second being developed in Mopa. The Government of India had approved the proposal of the Government of Goa for continuation of civilian operations at Dabolim Civil Aviation Enclave, even after the commissioning of new international airport at Mopa.  The work at Dabolim International Airport includes extension of the terminal building and creation of parking bays.  In order to ease traffic and handle more movements, the AAI is developing a parallel taxiway at Dabolim International Airport.  The airport will get in-line X-ray baggage system apart from a host of self-service kiosk and additional Common User Terminal Equipment (CUTE) for enhancing the capacity and passenger throughput. Mumbai Airport: Air India aircraft brushes against Indigo plane rudder

A mishap was averted after the tip of an Air India aircraft wing brushed against the rudder of a stationary Indigo aircraft at Mumbai airport on Saturday, 15 Apr 18. No casualty was reported. The aircraft was pressed into operation by late evening, sources said. Meanwhile, pending an enquiry, the pilot of the Air India aircraft has been de-rostered. Officials said at 4.50 am, a Mumbai-bound AI B787 flight from Delhi was taxiing at the parking bay when its wingtip brushed against the rudder of the stationary Indigo A320 aircraft. Boeing inks pact with HAL, Mahindra to make F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet in India

Aerospace major Boeing entered into an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Mahindra Defence Systems for manufacturing F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets in India. The deal happened on the second day of the ongoing Defence Expo.

Aviation sector growing tremendously: PM Modi

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] Feb 18 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India’s aviation sector is growing tremendously.  Aviation will also boost tourism sector in the country.”  The Prime Minister also said his government has also increased the airplane fleet in the country.  “Today around 450 airplanes, including both government and private, are operational in the country. Within last one year, order for 900 new airplanes has been placed,” Prime Minister Modi said. He added that the aviation sector also brings more employment opportunities. He also accused former governments of stalling infrastructure projects and said his government started development projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore which were stalled during previous government’s rule. “Previous government did only three things to infrastructure projects. Six AAI airports rated among best in world

New Delhi [India], Mar.8: Lucknow, Indore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune airports of the AAI have been adjudged as winners in various categories of the recently released winners’.  This is as per list of Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards 2017 of Airport Council International (ACI).  It is for the first time that so many of Indian airports have bagged top positions in the coveted list.  Lucknow Airport has been rated as the world’s top airport in the category – “ Best Airport by Size ” among the airports handling 2 to 5 million passengers per year. Lucknow Airport has also bagged the award for “Best airport by size and region” among the airports handling 2-5 million passengers per year in the whole of the Asia-Pacific region. Indore Airport has bagged the award for ‘ Best Airport by Region’ among the airports handling under 2 million passengers per year in Asia-Pacific region.
